DRUM MUSIC featuring MIND ON FIRE COLLECTIVE
FRIDAY 17th JULY
SAKI BAR, Wilmslow Rd/Moss Lane
10pm
2 bits of really bad news now....
PREFUSE 73 has cancelled most of the UK dates in his upcoming European tour, citing "financial reasons"... We're really gutted as we think we'd put together a great lineup, but hopefully we'll re-arrange at some point. All tickets can be refunded at point of sale.
It is with massive disappointment that we announce the cancellation of LAST MAN STANDING this weekend. For reasons totally beyond our control, issues with the venue have meant that the party cannot take place. We searched for last minute alternatives to no avail, and are still keen to get a little something sorted as a thank you to everyone who bought tickets… Theres plenty on this weekend – including Drum Roots at Deaf Institute - and a couple of summer solstice parties so keep your ears to the ground. We’re totally devastated, and will do everything we can to get another one sorted in the near future…Tickets will be refunded from the point of purchase… shops are doing refunds, ticketline will automatically transfer funds, and we will transfer by paypal for all tickets bought through www.mindonfire.co.uk We can only apologize, thanks for your understanding...
MIND ON FIRE COLLECTIVE x
Synkro is known for his tight, bass heavy, garage influenced productions but the track featured here Winter
Caulbearers are on the other side of the spectrum here. A 10 piece live funk band from Single Cell Collective playing raw, passionate funk music. There are 2 tracks available to download from their page but the song here "Intro Demo"
As well as this we have 2 more exclusive tracks from Synkro's label mate at Midset, Indigo. After giving us 3 exclusives earlier on in the year when he played at The Deaf Institute with Lukid 2 more follow now with Shining Down
As well as all of this there are new pages for Omas and UnderBaud who contribute What Your Looking For
Before I sign off for now let me tell you about the latest mix available for download. This is a live set by Dan Nation from the back room of Mint Lounge on the Onra/Martyn show. If you missed it on the night, or weren't there at all (tut, tut) now is your chance to get your ears around it so click the image below and crank your speakers y'all.
We now have 3 massive events before we take a well earned little summer breather, starting next Friday (12th June) at the second annual Mad Ferret Festival where we will be programming the band stand stage from 5 til 11. Check full line ups and details right here.
A week later (20th+21st June) it is our coach trip to the valleys for Last Man Standing 2. Think soundsystem in a barn, BBQ and Cocktails with Tipis to rest your weary heads. Oh, thats not mentioning DJs from DRSS, Drum Music, Hectic Harmoniz, Herbal Sessions, Hoya Hoya and Mindset Recordings.
And last, but certainly not least is a show which has had everyone here at Mind On Fire pretty much foaming at the mouth. In collaboration with our friends at WOTGODFORGOT we are bringing not only Prefuse 73 over on July 15th, but wih him Dimlite and Diamond Watch Wrists who are a band comprised of Prefuse and Zach Hill of Hella and often feature, amongst others, Tyondai Braxton of Battles. As if this wasn't enough we have local support from Borland, Woli Wols, Denis Jones and Illum Sphere. See you at the Ruby Lounge on the 15th July then...................BUY TICKETS HERE
If you weren't already wetting yourself with excitement about the Lone and Parkertron show at Deaf Institute next month (Friday 29th May) we have 2 MP3s exclusive to mindonfire.co.uk to get you in the mood.
Lone will be coming to promote his new E.P "Cluster Dreams" and his track My Ami gives you an idea of what to expect. All washy 80s synthlines and compressed drums, for a second i thought i was in an episode of Miami Vice. As for Paker we have a special treat for you. If you have ever seen him play live you will know he can rock the MPC drum machine with the best but if you haven't you really need to check out this sick Live MPC Freestyle from yesteryear, mmmmmmmmm.
Parkertron is also going to be the featured artist for May so check his page for some exclusive MPC instrumentals.

early Feb 12'' Release. Digital to follow
MINDSET 002 12" Narcossist/Logos 12" Out Now
Available from Boomkat, chemical,Juno,Redeye,BM and all other shops that sell decent vinyl Boomkat review: This is the first release from underground dubstep figure Narcossist, a name you may recognise if you've been checking Dusk & Blackdown's excellent Rinse FM show or checked any of Grievous Angel's on-point mixes available elsewhere on the net. Narcossist has been lauded for his finely produced rhythms which incorporate the kinky slink patterns of early Zed Bias, El-B or more recently Burial, with a love of Maurizio's M-Series or the Burial mixes and fresh deep techno from T++ and Dettmann for a blend that positions him in a neat spot of his own. 'Sunblind' is a Narcossist classic already, having done the rounds on myspace for some time, it was a logical progression to a vinyl pressing for this crafty blend of auld garage riffs, echo chamber FX and a properly tight 4/4 flex that deserves a spot in every future stepper's box. 'Slow' on the flip displays another side to his programming skills, with constantly shifting 2-step patterns executed to perfection with a warehouse spooked sound design. His remix of Logo's 'Frontier Dub' again switches styles to an irresistable deep and dubby house bump, done Berlin style with sprightly chords and a kinked Detroit flow that show this man is defintiely one to watch.
MINDSET 001 Indigo Out Now // A.Set to Cycle. B.Let it Rain
Now available from Boomkat, Redeye, Juno and independant record stores. Mindset001 digital is now available from digital-tunes.net and addictech.com
Mindset 001: Melancholy dub tech variants from Indigo and Mindset Recordings with a debut release directed towards the fertile middle ground between dubstep, techno and related rhythm science. A-side 'Set To Cycle' strikes at a striding 140bpm dub techno pace with offset snares, and sombre dub chords lending a deeper blue atmosphere to a promising track largely influenced by Peverelist, F, or Mala. 'Let It Rain' on the flip is an altogether smarter cut, this time taking it's influences from something a little more complex and electronica debted, with a dipping swing set somewhere between T++ and Toasty. Well set.
