One Deck Sessions – Mind on Fire takeover!

On Sunday the 11th of March, Mind On Fire will be taking control of Electrik bar’s now famous One Deck Arm chair sessions (they won bar of the year don’t you know!) With only a small selection of vinyl, each song is sure to be a belter from a wide range of genre’s, tempo’s and styles..

Sounds on the night will be coming from the crates of.. Zoir, Joe Who, Pareesa, Wolski, more so come down and enjoy the sounds, we are really looking forward to this one!

Mind On Fire DJs at Soundwave 2011

This “summer” has already seen an abundance of activity for everyone at MOF, including, amongst other things our showcases at Sounds From The Other City and FutureEverything and the bands shows at Eurocultured, Hendre Hall, Friends Of Mine and the Caulbearers E.P launch a few weeks back.

In addition to the last 2 band shows planned for 2011 at Beatherder and Kendal Calling, MOF Djs in the shape of Woli Wols, Loga and Zoir will be representing at this years Soundwave Festival in Croatia. The band wont be there as with last year but tickets are still available for Thursday night boat party with Heducation and Taste The Difference so get involved.

Tighten Up at Odder Tonight!!

Every Friday MOF residents Woli Wols and Loga take their bags of wax to Odder on Oxford Rd for the “Tighten Up” session. The night runs from 9pm all the way through to 2am and if you haven’t yet made it down check this mix from the man Woli Wols to get you in the mood. Soul, Funk and Hip-Hop blended to perfection.

Every 1st Saturday of the month the Mind On Fire brigade will be descending on the newly re-opened Dulcimer for an anything goes musical bonanza.

In addition to the regular rabble of residents we will be joined every month by a guest producer playing a straight DJ set of inspirations and current favourites as well as a set of their own productions.

This month we are joined by Raikes Parade of the Herbal Sessions clan.

As if all this wasn’t enough, these shindigs will be one of the first places to hear upcoming releases on the Mind On Fire imprint so keep the dates free in your diary.

Expect some rawkus soul joints, Funk breaks all up in your shit’s and some seriiiaaassss Reggae to bounce along to!

The very large array of drinks offer’s means this is usually a messy night! Beers from £1.50, Double up on House spirits for £1, bottles of wine £7, shooters form £1.

So get on your good foot and get down to it ‘yall!

Thanks and Upcoming Events

First off thank a massive thank you to everyone who came down to any or all of our events in May, it was a very busy month for us all, and my my it was lovely to see you. As well as our events at Sounds From The Other City, Futuresonic and a final show in the series at Deaf Institute the Mind On Fire Jam Band played at Eurocultured, Whalley Range Festival, SFTOC, May Day, May Day at Saki Bar and also a Futuresonic Fringe event at The Afewe in Hulme.

We now have 3 massive events before we take a well earned little summer breather, starting next Friday (12th June) at the second annual Mad Ferret Festival where we will be programming the band stand stage from 5 til 11. Check full line ups and details right here.

A week later (20th+21st June) it is our coach trip to the valleys for Last Man Standing 2. Think soundsystem in a barn, BBQ and Cocktails with Tipis to rest your weary heads. Oh, thats not mentioning DJs from DRSS, Drum Music, Hectic Harmoniz, Herbal Sessions, Hoya Hoya and Mindset Recordings.

And last, but certainly not least is a show which has had everyone here at Mind On Fire pretty much foaming at the mouth. In collaboration with our friends at WOTGODFORGOT we are bringing not only Prefuse 73 over on July 15th, but wih him Dimlite and Diamond Watch Wrists who are a band comprised of Prefuse and Zach Hill of Hella and often feature, amongst others, Tyondai Braxton of Battles. As if this wasn’t enough we have local support from Borland, Woli Wols, Denis Jones and Illum Sphere. See you at the Ruby Lounge on the 15th July then……………….BUY TICKETS HERE
